Kathryn Sullivan and Michael J. Rosen

March 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Kathryn D. “Kathy” Sullivan, the first American woman to walk in space, will be our guest at Mazza Museum’s March Funday Sunday. An Earth scientist and PhD. geologist/oceanographer, Dr. Sullivan left NASA in 1993 to take a series of distinguished positions, first as chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and now as administrator of NOAA since early 2013.

For over forty years, Columbus native Michael J. Rosen has been creating art that has resounded in the community and across the nation. He has been illustrating and painting since 1981, when his drawings began to appear in magazines such as New Yorker, Gourmet, and Bon Appetit. His dozens of picture books and middle-grade volumes have garnered awards from every corner, including fellowships from Ohio Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, and Ingram Merrill Foundation.

Together, Kathryn D. Sullivan and Michael J. Rosen created “How to Spacewalk: Step-by-Step with Shuttle Astronauts,” a story for aspiring astronauts which details space equipment, gear, and tips to prepare for takeoff.
