Mazza Gallery Opens at The Toledo Zoo

The University of Findlay Mazza Museum’s Gallery at The Toledo Zoo will be opening to the public over Memorial Day Weekend. Located on the second floor of the ProMedica Museum of Natural History at The Toledo Zoo, the Mazza Gallery is currently featuring Judith Caseley’s “Z is for Zebra: A Mosaic Menagerie.”

The University of Findlay Mazza Museum’s Galleria at The Toledo Zoo will be opening to the public over Memorial Day Weekend. “After two years of quarantine in the Mazza vault, Judith Caseley’s vibrant animal mosaics will make their public debut in the most appropriate setting: The Toledo Zoo,” said Dan Chudzinski, curator of the Mazza Museum. “Caseley’s use of mosaic is a departure from the more traditional artistic mediums one might expect to see used in book illustration. Each mosaic represents a meticulous assemblage of glass tiles, pebbles, and other found objects, which bring to life the delightful creatures that populate the pages of the book.

The vibrant art and quirky rhymes use a child’s innate love of animals to move the reader through the letters of the alphabet in an easily accessible and entertaining way. Copies of the book will be available for purchase in the ProMedica Museum of Natural History Gift Shop.
