Mazza Funday Sunday to Celebrate Lakeside Leisure Activities

The Mazza Museum at the University of Findlay will soon help guests escape into a lakeside paradise. The theme for Funday Sunday on March 5, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. is “Lounging at the Lake.”

The Museum will welcome special guests, author Amy Heritage and illustrator Eleanor Hutton, of the book, “The Lakeside Symphony Comes to Town.” Heritage has been playing flute in the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra since 2002, and Hutton provided the beautiful watercolor images of the town. The book tells the story of the musicians who make Lakeside Chautauqua their summer home each year. Heritage will also provide a musical performance for guests.

In addition to the special guests, Funday Sunday visitors will find stations for face painting, fishing, art activities, a story corner, artist drawing and refreshments. The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will host a table with an activity for kids related to the CommunityREAD event for 2017. Students from the University of Findlay’s Japanese and Chinese programs will offer activities that relate to the lakeside theme as well. Ethan Hockaday, a UF student, will also play violin music with relaxing melodies to entertain guests.

Founded in 1982, the Mazza Museum at the University of Findlay celebrates the joy of storytelling through the original art of picture books using education, exhibits, events and artist visits. Giving world-renowned artists a platform to share their creative process, the Museum invites people to explore the art within the story through its programs for children, adults and educators. As a unique learning and development opportunity, Mazza enhances the academic experience for all students at the University as they pursue meaningful lives and productive careers. The Museum, located in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion, is home to more than 11,000 pieces of artwork from picture books, making it the largest and most diverse collection of picture book art in the world.
