After graduation from the University of Tulsa (OK), Terry Widener began his career as an artist in advertising and editorial illustration. In the late 1990’s, he changed to primarily illustration for the children’s picture books market.

Terry’s first children’s book, Lou Gehrig, the Luckiest Man (written by David A. Adler) was published in 1997 and since then his artwork has enhanced the stories of some of America’s most popular children’s book authors. His book illustrations have received numerous awards and recognition.

Terry has been a featured speaker at The Texas Book Festival on three occasions. He is also a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters. Several of his paintings are in private and corporate collections worldwide including the permanent collection of Mazza Museum: International Art from Picture Books.

He and his family live in historic McKinney, Texas.
