Freed Contemporary Christian Lecture Series

About the Freed Contemporary Christian Lecture Series

Dr. and Mrs. Freed have graced us with their gentleness and wisdom, their devotion to our students and their commitment to excellence in all that we do. We have been blessed beyond telling by their unstinting service and inspired by the way they exemplify in their daily lives the values we all hold dear.

They have, furthermore, viewed our three institutions – The University of Findlay, Winebrenner Theological Seminary, and the Churches of God, General Conference – as the “family” that we are: institutions from the same lineage, sharing the same “DNA,” yet unique in our missions and outlook. We are a closer-knit family because of them.

To honor Dr. and Mrs. Freed, we have established The Dr. & Mrs. DeBow Freed Contemporary Christian Lecture Series which will invite nationally known speakers to our community to explore the nature of possible Christian responses to existing and emerging contemporary issues in an increasingly pluralistic world.

This series, one which we believe promotes the values they treasure and unites our three institutions in a never-before way, is a collaboration among the University, the Seminary and the CGGC that is intended to engender reflection, discussion and action among the students, faculty and staff of each institution, as well as the broader community.

Sincerely,
