Four recent graduates of the
Nuclear Medicine Institute at
The University of Findlay each were chosen to receive a
Paul Cole Scholarship.
Miranda Finch, Kerri Kirby, Stephanie Rizzo and Amanda
Strauss were selected for the award.
Twenty-five
$1,000 scholarships were available nationwide through a grant from the
Education and Research Foundation for the
Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM).
Application
requirements included a one-page applicant statement describing educational
aspirations and financial need, an evaluation from the nuclear medicine program
director and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
“These
scholarships are based on financial need, statements of goals, academic
performance and program director recommendations,” said Richard States,
D.H.Sc., CNMT, RT, director of the nuclear medicine technology program. “In
today’s world, the funding of higher education is as challenging as ever. These
scholarships help students achieve their needs.”
The
SNM is an international scientific and professional organization founded in
1954 to promote the science, technology and practical application of nuclear
medicine.
The
Paul Cole Scholarship is named in memory of Paul Cole, CNMT, who served as
president of the SNM Technologist Section (SNMTS) in 1986 and who was known as
a champion of education for technologists.
Cole was assistant chief technologist in the
division of nuclear medicine technology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He
graduated from Nashville General Hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology in
1967 and from the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s School of Nuclear Medicine
Technology in 1971.
