Free Training Course in Dealing with the Media Offered by the All Hazards Training Center

The University of Findlay’s All
Hazards Training Center, in partnership with the Rural Domestic Preparedness
Consortium (RDPC), will host a training course, at no cost to participants, for
rural responders and community stakeholders who may need to adopt the role of a
public information officer working with the media.
The
course, AWR 209: Dealing with the Media: A Short Course for Rural Responders
and Community Stakeholders, will be held 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, in
Croy Gymnasium, Room 216, on The University of Findlay campus. Class size is
limited to 20 participants.

to be covered include:
- Utilizing
the media in emergency and public awareness situations
- Working
with the media at the scene of an emergency
- Anticipating
what news agencies want from first responders at the scene of an emergency
- Giving
interviews that work
- Writing
effective news releases that will be read
