The University of Findlay will
present “Patently Good Ideas in Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property” 6-8
p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 300 Davis Street, Room 102.
Community
members are welcome to attend.
The
University recognizes that the economy is becoming increasingly
knowledge-based. Intellectual property, such as patents, plays a vital role in
economic growth and development. Knowledge of intellectual property, and
specifically patents and the patenting process, is important to entrepreneurs,
small businesses and large companies.
The program will
provide an overview of entrepreneurship and start-up business basics as well as
a discussion on intellectual property, which will explain the differences
between patents, trademarks, copyright and trade secrets.
Featured speakers
are Jeremiah Young, M.B.A., J.D., assistant professor in the
College of Business at UF, and Jacob M. Ward, Esq., patent attorney with Fraser Clemens
Martin and Miller LLC in Perrysburg.
Srikumaran
Melethil, Ph.D., J.D., patent attorney and chair of the department of
pharmaceutical sciences in the
College of Pharmacy at UF, will moderate the
discussion.
