UF Bands to Perform “Hymnal” by Jack Taylor
Friday, April 10, 2009

The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will appear together in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary.

Senior clarinetist Samantha Bormuth, winner of the 2008-09 UF Instrumental Music Concerto Competition, will be the featured soloist on “Immer Kleiner” (Always Smaller) by Adolf Schreiner.

The program will also be highlighted by the second full production of “Hymnal.”  Premiered in 2001, “Hymnal” is a suite in 10 movements composed by Jack Taylor, UF director of bands.

Taylor will conduct the performance; Dr. Marie Louden-Hanes, dean of undergraduate education, will narrate; and Kelly Lewis, staff accompanist, will be featured on keyboard.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens and free for UF faculty, staff and students with valid I.D. Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335.

Seating is limited. Any available tickets will be sold on a first-come basis at the door prior to the concert.
