Hayes is an internationally known writer, and his vocal and instrumental writing is widely acclaimed and performed across the nation. Among the featured compositions on the concert are arrangements of six traditional spirituals: “Go Down Moses,” “Dry Bones,” “Steal Away to Heaven” (with “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen” and “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child”), “Wade in the Water,” “Here’s One” and “Witness.”
Also featured will be a set of American folk songs: “Billy Boy,” “Shenandoah/He’s Gone Away,” “Some Folks,” “Home on the Range” and “Oh! Susanna.”
The concert also will conclude with a dramatic setting of “America, the Beautiful” with narration by UF theatre major Tom Lalonde.
Featured soloists are Luther Mayfield, Lisa Ragland, Tyler Jacobs, Kevin Subler and Robert Braylock.
The University of Findlay is a comprehensive university with a hands-on approach to learning located in Findlay, Ohio, approximately 45 miles south of Toledo.
