Research

Our faculty members strive to promote practice-focused research that will allow our students to expand their understanding of:

Direct patient-care related issues
Economical impact of healthcare decisions
Drug therapies that will improve the lives of others


Scholarly activity and research are important for the continuous development of the pharmacist, the training of our students and the advancement of the profession. Our department members are involved in grant writing, publications and a variety of presentations at the local, state, and national level. The following are examples of the types of activities in which our department’s faculty and students are involved.

Grants:

  • Patient Safety & Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative (PSPC) travel grant to attend national meeting designed to support the clinical pharmacy program at Wood County Health Department. This program provides guidance and networking opportunities related to FQHC and 340 B drug programs to be implemented at WCHD.
  • RxPreceptor grant for continuous enhancement of online electronic portfolio system for PharmD students
  • The impact of a pharmacist-run diabetes self-management program on patient self-management activation and healthy behavior in an underserved patient population.  Funded by the 2010 Ambulatory Care PRN Grant.
